About This Website

Jackson Mitchell

I am a Junior in high school.  Ever since I can remember I’ve had a passion for science and exploring the natural world.  My primary focus is chemistry and I have a particular interest in metabolic pathways. More specifically, I enjoy studying the relationship between genes, proteins, and cellular activities. I also enjoy studying electromagnetism and thermodynamics. The complex relationship between heat and energy has always fascinated me.

In 2020 I helped organize a biology club at my high school, now with 20 members. I was a semi-finalist in the 2021 Biolympiad and will also be competing in the 2022 Science Olympiad. I spent the summer of 2021 on a research team at Michigan State studying the genetics of certain metabolic pathways and how they relate to certain diseases. I am currently studying the mathematics of enzyme kinetics and ligand binding.
